Really hard to say,, which is not much help. If you tend to dress in a particular style, then that is the style I would probably follow for the handbag. It also depends how much you want to spend. Are you thinking short/long term useage? Can you give us a little more to go on??
My sister bought me a red bag four or five years ago. It was a deep, lovely red that somehow went with everything. It started fading and getting a little beat up (she bought it for me at a no-name booth at a fashion show), and I have never found another bag I like as much.
I need a new bag, something versatile for spring and summer. I'm thinking of either a purple hobo or a neutral, crocheted Sak, but I'm hoping to be inspired.
For the office: medium golden brown leather shoulder bag (Ralph Lauren makes nice ones)
For leisure: Cream canvas oversized bag with accent color (brown leather closures or blue/white nautical stripe accent) Some Guatemalan tapestry bags also look nice paired with sandals, shorts, and a flashy top.
