I like a lot of the ideas I am hearing.

I would be worried about:
1. the coat getting destroyed in just one NYC winter
2. being a target of muggers etc
3. realizing 10 years down the road that pissed money down the toilet when I should have invested it

If shes living in NYC the coat is more useful than a car.

It looks nice for a formal night out in NYC, but if you ever move to a warm climate it will be stuck back in a closet.

Nah, a young woman wearing a coat like that in NYC will be assumed to be a call girl.

So it could be seen as an investment, depending on the woman's line of work.

Product Details - mink long coat

I am going to assume that you are a YOUNG student who has not been in the work force for too long. If you weren't I'd say "to hell" with what others think ~ if you really want the coat and can part with the money comfortably enough, then go for it.

But to a young student I wouldn't encourage it. It may be warm but you could get tired of the look well before you get your money out of it, and you'll definitely need the $ for something else more important.

The OP would be much better off to get a stylish yet versatile coat in a luxurious fabric because she is going to look a bit silly dragging that fur for pizza or to the movies. And unless she is planning on taking a cab everywhere she will be a target on the subway with the fur.

The coat looks old-fashioned to me. It might be appropriate for a 60 year old.

As others have said... fur coats are for when you are 60+, living on park avenue and going to the opera in the winter. You are going to look super pretentious in a fur coat at your age.
