Hi,
This is my first time posting on this forum
I'd like to know about "Indie" (for lack of a better description) clothing shops or websites kind of like this one: Mod Retro Vintage Clothing & Indie Clothes | ModCloth.com.
I like clothes that aren't too mainstream that you can buy in any department store that you are likely to see on someone else around you (especially if you live in a relatively small town). What about you?
Do you know of any sites or stores like ModCloth?
I like ModCloth's stuff but it seems to all be for petite women with narrow shoulders. I've never bought anything from them but think a lot of their clothes are adorable. I love jackets, and they have some very cute jackets.
Have you ever look at clothes on Etsy? There are some very creative and talented people on that site! Like this cute skirt:
LOL!
My 6' size 10-12 daughter shops their stuff all the time. All she wanted for Christmas was a gift certificate to ModCloth.
She IS careful about what she orders, though... pays close attention to any measurements.
Interesting ... I must have had bad luck, because whenever I'd see something I liked, it seemed like it would not fit at all, or it was sold out. I mostly looked at their jackets, though, so maybe it's a thing with their jackets.
I did just look at their site and found a top I like in my size. And there's only one left.

ModCloth does cut their clothes small. Sometimes when looking at dresses, they even tell you to buy a size up because they cut so small. I don't think it's just jackets.
Have you tried Forever 21 or Urban Outfitters? Yeah, I know, by technicality they're both kind of ~*~mainstream~*~ but you can find some really cool stuff on their websites, both clothing and accessories.
You should also DEFINITELY check out Etsy. The only problem that I have is a lot of the time people want some really steep prices for what they make, whether or not it is something deserving of a $200 price tag.
Why not go for real vintage items vs mass market "indie"?
Because six-footers, and the clothing to fit them, were not the target audience back then.
