American Apparel t-shirts are okay, but 90% of the other stuff in the store is bizarre. Like, who is going to wear a tube top with hot pant shorts that have suspenders attached, or thigh-high tube socks? Also, the company's owner is skeevy.

Victoria's Secret is another one. There's this weird perception that it's super-sexy, but a lot of their stuff is poorly made and/or tacky. There's better places to buy good quality lingerie than a store at the mall.
Believe it or not ...Once upon a time, they did have beautiful lingerie, in the 80's and early 90's. Real silk, lovely lace. They used to stock very sexy stuff and it was the place to shop for your bridal lingerie.

VS used to stock Winds of Winsor perfumes/powders and lotions... I used to buy the lilac scent there...

Oh, and they used to have drawers FULL of the most wonderful sachets!

Yep! I have some really great pieces from Coldwater Creek. It always makes me laugh when someone younger tsk, tsks over something older people wear. Especially if it is in any way hippie-ish. Makes me want to go out and buy more!

And it makes me want to listen to Grace Slick.

American is over-rated. Of course, I do work for their competitor, so I am biased, but their clothes are just sized too small, shotty workmanship, and way overpriced. I acually used to find a lot of good things at Sears, but it's been several years since I've shopped there. They changed somehow, and now I don't like any of their clothes.

Eddie Bauer outlets. Utterly useless for men. Oversized and dull colours.

Bass. Again, looks nice, but worthless.

Banana Republic. They should just stick with Gap and Old Navy.

Jos A. Bank. Completely useless and the happy hunting ground for fatties and grand daddies

Brooks Brothers. Great brand, but sizing problems. Ridiculously designed shirts selling for 200 bucks and carry the tag, "Made in India, with real cotton". Duh, my mommy can bring these shirts to me for free

Nautica. Lifeless and boring.

Tommy Hilfiger. Another of the boring categories with no real clothes.

Clothes have to hit me before I invest in them.

AGREE. I haven't shopped the store in years-(thought the same thing about the lingerie), also any time I've ordered from the catalog I'm disappointed. The stuff never really fits me right, and the clothes fall apart easily. I gave up... They looked so pretty in the catalog.

I don't get the appeal of most of the stuff in the GAP, so I usually stay out of there.

Bebe- cute stuff, but beyond my budget...I buy look a likes elsewhere.

Anthropoligie- love their clothes, but their sizes are cut so big. I am small and thin and their stuff almost never fits.

J Crew, mainly because their quality stinks.

That's because those models and photographers trick you. The models pose one way but you don't see the other side where they might be clipping the shirt or tying it. The photographer also gets them at the right angle. I shop equally at stores and online, but that's one reason I don't like to buy in catalogue or online.
