I am a little on the dark side on my skin and I would like to look a little bit lighter. What can I do? Any suggestions? I use to be light brown in my childhood years but after playing sports out in the sun, I got darker.
Maybe try an alpha hydroxy lotion? There is one at Walgreens for $7-8 that is for the face, but i put some on other parts of my body as well. I don't use it regularly so it helped to lighten the scars on my body (which is what I bought it for) but not my entire skin. But, the reviews I read said that others had lighter skin with it (they used it everyday, unlike me, lol). Use a good sunscreen with it.
Don't. Skin lightening creams are horrible and make you look uneven. Just accept you new skin tone. I know there is a lot of stupid colorism for all communities of color, and it makes you seem like you are light = right.
Aren't you of South Asian/Indian descent? If yes, I'd recommend just leaving your skin alone... there isn't any real good way to lighten it, and the methods that do lighten it can really damage your skin. Plenty of horror stories about this.
There are plenty of options for you. You have just as much a right to better yourself as White women who tan.
You can get hydroquinone 4% online from CanadaSuperDrugStore.com. Lustra can help with your hyperpigmentation issues. Also exfoliation is important to. St. Ive's scrub can be bought from CVS or Walgreens. In addition you can use Lactic Acid which is gentle on darkskin for exfolitation. You can buy it from Makeupartist.com

I agree with others just to accept it and start using sunblock on your exposed skin. It can take awhile for the skin to naturally lighten. Exfoliate your skin to help speed up the process and any skin tone looks great when its exfoliated.
The main vanity reason I want to say to stay away from creams is that you can come out blotchy. Dark is better than blotchy.

What is your ethnicity? I am South Asian. I use the Men's Neutrogena 20spf after shaving.
