What percent cotton or polyester do you all prefer in t-shirts? I usually wear thick (like Hanes Beefy-t) 100% cotton t-shirts around the house and for around town in the summer. Would a 90/10 or 80/20 cotton/poly blend be too warm and odiferous on a warm summer day? Are there advantages, seasons or uses where a cotton/poly blend t-shirt is better? I've noticed they are usually thinner than 100% cotton shirts.

I have always purchased 100% thick cotton t-shirts and collared shirts out of habit, but I'm seeing more polyester in the shirts now, presumably because of cotton costs.

I used to like cotton shirts in college. But as of late, I like the softness and warmth of merino wool. I love t shirts all year round, so I wanted something that would keep warm in the winter.

Default Jockey for me

I prefer 100% cotton and always prefer Jockey. I don't care for the poly blends in t-shirts.

Under Armour is famous for their HeatGear moisture wicking clothes, and many of their shirts and shorts are over 80% polyester. So I don't think the polyester would make you hotter.

I like blends when it means a lighter, better fitting tee.

i received a couple silk/cotton tees from the travelsmith store from my parents and they're super thin and breathe easily. Just the answer for muggy hot summer days. I only wish they came in stripes or V neck. My only gripe is they tend to wrinkle easily.

For fall & winter, you really can't beat any tees/baselayers made from the new micro woolens like Smartwool, IceBreaker and Ibex. While not as durable as synthetics like Capilene, they maintain body temp just as well and don't absorb any odors! So you can use them for working out or sports.

100% cotton for me. I vary between thicker and thinner ones, but I have a preference for the slightly more fitted, thinner American Apparel shirts.

Poly blends don't work at all, at least not for me. I tried it a few times at various jobs, to stay cool, since they're supposed to help with that, and in all fairness they do, but after wearing it for a day, I can't get the smell out of them, and I'm not even that smelly to begin with!
