I bought a Coach handbag about 200 after 25% off in Macys and very disappointed to knowthat it made in China. My friend told me not not to be susprised since some LVs also made in china. Should I return ?

The bad is good size and lighter than others which is good for me. I like the bag but hate made in China. Oh boy if LVs are made in China, I have to look for something else.

Why are you disappointed that it was made in China?

Half the things are made there. Who cares.

I don't want to support Chinese products.

I don't see any difference between buying a Chinese made purse, or buying Italian shoes, or French luggage.

In general I much prefer to buy American or even locally made! But once in a while, for a luxury good, I don't see anything wrong with buying something from another country. It's how you live the majority of the time that matters most - you can make exceptions occasionally, for items that bring you great pleasure. And there's nothing quite like Italian leather and French fashion - I don't see anything wrong with indulging a little!

I agree with this. If you love the purse, and love the quality, and are okay with the fact that it wasn't made locally, then why would it matter if it was made in China instead of Italy?

^^If you feel that strongly about this; return it. It's your call!

Ditto SummerBabe

Humanitarian practices in China and the trade deficit are real concerns.

As for labor practices, here's a site that depicts conditions frequent in developing nations:

All Roads Lead to China Factory Audit Conditions in Pictures

BRAVO for taking charge of your decisions.

And Coach is overrated, IMO
