If I have to run up the block for something (in the summer) I will put the flops on, but even to just walk up the block, I don't find them comfortable at all. The thing in between the big toe, is annoying....it is more worth it to just take the extra few seconds to put sneakers on......
Are flip flops and sandals on guys a fad or are they here to stay? ?
While I dont really consider myself a flip flop/sandal guy, I do have my fair share of Body Glove, Billabong, etc. open toed shoes because I do the beach thing a lot, or just the backyard pool thing. Im in Los Angeles so Im thinking it is a regional thing because they have been popular since I was a little kid.
I remember guys wearing flip lops back when I was in college. I didn't think it was a trend, just a matter of practicality during the warmer months.
My husband owns a few pairs, but they're mainly for hitting the beach/vacationing or barbequing in the backyard, whether it be ours or a neighbor's. His favorite pair of flip flops are the Reef's with the bottle opener on the bottom.

but at the beach it is obvious to wear them.
oh well...........................just saying
I've never found either to be very comfortable. Especially flip flops. I wear flip flops only to get from the car to the sand when I go to the beach. Or if I just need to go out to the driveway to get my newspaper in the morning, and don't want to otherwise get dressed.
I don't really understand their appeal, especially with long pants.
Yesterday, in the 50s, wet morning dew lawns on the soccer fields and all these dads "had" to wear flip flops. Real mess. It's analogous to the gals who wear white trash Uggs in summer on 140F asphalt.

Wow, I had no idea Uggs were considered white trash. Now, they're not my style, but my 5 and 9 yrs old daughters love and wear them. The 9 yr old has even worn them on hot FL days against my approval, but I wouldn't say they look trashy...

My 12 and 10 year old daughters wear them too. I still think they look white trash.
