I have about 3 hoodies and 2 of them I bought for 40-50,
while the one I just bought yesterday was 80. (thinking about returning -
can't believe i spent that much on clothing)

I wear them for the gym or to walk the dogs. Not sure how many I have, but definitely not something I spend a lot on/have TONS of. I wouldn't spend more than 30.00 on one...if that much! ahaha
I own two hoodies but I only wear them outside when I'm gardening. I've never spent more than $25 (and thats a stretch) on them. I'm petite and small boned so I buy them on sale in the kid's dept. I just got one this week for $15.00 from Land's End.
I layer a lot, so hoodies are a decent staple. The only time I'll spend more than $30 on one is if it's a nicer, heavier weight embroidered one with my alma mater's insignia, which I replace about every 10 years, i.e. every time I get back to campus.
I've got like 3 or 4 but i try not to wear them unless i'm doing something athletic or grungy or at the beach or pool. Once you get into your late 20's and early 30's it gets harder & harder to pull off a hoodie without looking like you're trying to be young & hip again. You don't want to be that middle-aged guy in cargo shorts rocking a douchey polo with that HUUUUGE pony emblem.
I used to wear them a lot because I wore the hood, but now I prefer hats & think the hood down the back makes the garment pull up against my throat - in addition to being kinda redundant. They are also so bulky.
