what I mean is that your reason isn't purely vanity... you wear glasses, but they are prescription and you prefer them to contacts.

I wear glasses, but I need them to see. That, and I'm terrifed of anything being in my eyes.

i'm nearsighted, and am also terrified of things in my eyes, so i wear glasses for a large portion of the day, every day. i do not understand why glasses are seen as an accessory for smart people. is there some link between bad eyesight and intelligence that i don't know about?

The difference is that you two have reasons to wear glasses in the first place, as opposed to vanity.
Do we have to provide reasons for wearing earrings or necklaces? Must we justify our choices to wear flats or high-heels? Why would accessory glasses be any different? Why is it anyone's business whether someone is wearing glasses for a reason you approve of, or just for the heck of it? I could have got by with a cheapo pair of glasses but I special ordered a particular pair that I really liked and paid a lot more for them, isn't that vanity, too?

Exactly. I don't expect anyone to buy UGLY glasses, if they actually NEED them. Might as well have nice ones if you're going to be wearing them all the time.

Sure, why not? If you do, please have proper lenses cut for them (just without any correction). Do not wear the demo lenses. I've seen people do this. It looks awful.

Personally; I'd be THRILLED TO DEATH having 20/20 vision ahaha, so for me it would be a nea if I didn't NEED them. However, if you want to add frames to your look; then go for it!

I wear contacts for 20/200 vision (I doubt I could find my way out the front door without them).

Every now and then I have to wear my glasses - why anyone would wear them for fashion confuses me....

Why? Some people like how glasses look. I will nearly always choose my frames over my contacts, although sometimes contacts are necessary.

I had glasses that were coated with a glare treatment to make computer screens easier on the eyes. It also helped with that halo you see while driving. If you really want some clear glasses at least get something you can use. I thought about getting transition lenses with a glare coating in the future when I will be using computers and driving more often. The glare coating did save my eyes. I didn't have the eye strain issues I had previous to using them. I think they actually helped save my eyes from strain damage. I stopped getting "computer headaches" too.
