There is no organized campaign of which I am aware that would be identified by a purple tie. I have a few, myself, including a couple of bow ties, but no cause of which I am aware.

I think, purplecolor is light, could reflects the fashion temperament of young man.

If I remember correctly some political event in Washington DC happened and many politicians wore purple ties to symbolize unity across the isle. It might have been an event after the Giffords shooting or some how related to it.

One of my most favourite of ties. What can I say, can't beat Lord & Taylor. Affordable, great designs and non-fat ties.
