That used to happen to me years ago,but I could never find an explaination.

I think women value distinctive features more than men. Men value symmetry. I've had women point out other women they think are very attractive that I find really quirky looking.

Frankly, if women's compliments do not overlap with men's views, they're not honest.

Unlike men, we, women, have a lot more leeway, though. Miracles can be achieved with make-up if you're skillful, even if we leave FraudShop aside... Never mind even celebrities with or without make-up. It's enough to see some youtube videos of the magic some regular girls achieve!

Here's the test.

Have somebody stand behind you, and make a video of you walking away. Look at the video. You will immediately know if you are beautiful or not. Everything else can be adjusted or corrected with styling and cosmetics. What you look like from behind when you walk is a perspective of you that you will never see, but the most important one.

I should have added this above---there is more beauty in body language and movement and grace and poise and gestures, than there is in eyes or hair or boobs.

1. Beauty is an extremely subjective thing. I find some top models rather ugly and some "ordinary people" ridiculously beautiful.

2. I like to look pretty for myself. Whether other people see it or not is just their opinion (not to mention as people have different tastes I will always be pretty to some and ugly to others).

Imo there is no such thing as "knowing if you are really pretty" simply bc every person has a different opinion about almost everything.
