For many years, I've been using the Mach 3 blade which I change weekly. I'm currently paying $15.99 for a 5 count package. Hey, we're in a recession and that adds up. I've noticed disposible razors are not cheap either. I'm looking for a cheaper razor that will be thin enough to shave under the nostrals. I don't have a thick five o clock shadow, but I need a close shave. I've tried many electric shavers but can't get a close shave. Not interested in electric. Appreciate any recommendations to start saving $192 per year.

I don't think you need to change your blade every week. I go many weeks with the same blade. The razor blade companies will never tell people how long a blade lasts because they know that many people change their blades more often than necessary.

Safety razors (double-edged) like the one linked above have become very hip & trendy, along with straight razors, but both take some practice to get a shave as close as you get with today's multi-blade cartridges without nicking yourself. I've heard good things about Wilkinson's triple blades, available at Walmart. It's supposed to be the best bang for your buck.

I get the disposables at costco, a pack lasts me a year (roughly a week each) and costs about $20.

I paid $35 for a Edwin Jagger Double Edge (DE) Safety Razor plus $25 for 20 Feather blades and 50 Shark blades back in September of 2010. Not even close to running out and Im getting a closer shave than any Gillette or Schick

I go thru razors like water, since I shave my head as well. My hair is coarse so they dull fast.

Plus, with the fact that you shave your arms, legs and chest, you must use enough razor blades to keep Gillette in business singlehandedly.
