I, for one, can really appreciate a shapely pair of male legs. But I've always gone for the taller, thinner, athletic type of guy (e.g. runners, bball players). Toned legs and butt are way up there on my list.

Speaking of Australia.... Every now and then, I stumble upon an "Australian Football" game on TV. I don't watch much TV, but this sport captivates me because there are a bunch of hot Australian guys running around in shorter shorts and no padding (unlike American football). It allows me to really appreciate the male form (oggle?), especially the toned legs of the athlete (also occasionally watch men's soccer for this reason - David Beckham's legs WOW). I know absolutely nothing about Australian Football, but I love to watch those fit Australian men kicking that ball. It is my guilty pleasure!

The funny thing is, this is the only televised sport my hubby and I can agree to watch together. He is a sports nut (with great legs) and is always trying to watch some game on TV. He is just happy that I'll watch sports with him so now he likes Australian Football too. LOL. He knows I am not really paying attention to the score, but he puts up with it. I told him he can watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Ladies, Australian Football is one of the best viewings on TV for seeing some hot legs!

Yes...you all need to stop farting too. I am SICK of it. LOL

I think any crazy long leg hair should be trimmed. Shaving looks strange unless you are beefed out with tans/dark skin.

I was watching the pre-Olympic long-distance runners on TV a few days ago. Now, I have always appreciated women's legs, so don't get me wrong, but in this particular case I thought the men's legs looked better and more "normal" if that makes any sense. I couldn't figure it out. It may have been due to their choice of apparel. The women were wearing bikini type briefs, while the men just had regular running shorts. The women might have looked better if they had been wearing regular short shorts too.

I inherited my Dad's "chicken legs". I can do leg exercises all day long for years and they wont get any bigger. Unless i shave them i basically have girls legs with hair.

yes it is confusing. Girls dont want us to shave our legs but then they complain about our legs having hair on them. We'll never win so just do whatever you want. Theyll say "eww" either way.

I'm glad a yank appreciates Aussie rules!

I tried watching your version of football on TV a couple of times and didn't really understand it half the time. The goal is obvious, but I didn't know about all the plays and stuff, seemed complicated compared to Aussie rules.

The short shorts are to give more freedom in kicking/leg movement. They would look weird with long basketball type shorts. If you ask me if looks less gay than the tights those gridirion players wear. It's like what women wear to the gym or something lol.

It is weird that what women athletes/runners etc wear is more like underwear/swimwear. I wonder why? I'm not complaining, but it's of weird.

I will attempt to answer this question with this post that I posted on the "What's with older dudes and short shorts" thread. Here it is:

I agree that today's shorts for males are rediculously long and baggy, but I am starting to see the return of shorter mens' shorts. However, it will be awhile before upper or mid thigh mens' shorts, if ever, become popular again. I mean no offense to anyone for what I'm about to say, but I see this for several reasons:

1. Short shorts on men are now considered gay by a large section of the population, both male and female alike. This is largely due to a cultural shift that occurred in the mid to late 1980s, where men started covering themselves up as a reaction to the Gay Identity movement at that time. Hip Hop went mainstream at that time, and its long and baggy style became the only way for males, young and old alike, to dress. All clothes for males, especially younger males, from the 1990s on until about 2 years ago, was long and baggy. At the same time, females began showing more and more skin. Go to any beach, and you will now see men wearing big, bulky, and long-tentlike boardshorts and women wearing barely nothing, tie on the side string bikinis. At the same time, if a guy wanted to wear short shorts, it would be very hard because hardly anybody makes them for men anymore, with the exception of running shorts, and even most men now wear those longer, too. The only athletes who were the short shorts now seem to be marathon runners and professional wrestlers.

2. At least one whole generation of people were not alive or were very young when men regularly wore shorter shorts. They are now entering their 20s, and it will take a lot to convince them that this is an okay thing to do. There is a group on Facebook called "Men Can Wear Short Shorts Too" where the members often talk of harrassment by others for wearing short shorts and being men. The harrassment includes having strangers take their picture, rude comments from young men and women alike, and being pointed and laughed at. I once saw an older man wearing short shorts being harassed by several teen boys, one of which kept saying to the man "Why don't you just say that your gay!" and holding his cellphone up as if he was recording the incident.

3. Most heterosexual women these days, young and old, actually prefer to see males in longer shorts. I don't know why that is, but maybe someone can shed some light here, but they act as if the male thigh is a very disgusting thing while not even minding seeing other females nearly naked.

4. Most men value their manhood above just about anything else, and especially, their straight manhood if they are straight. While women have fought for and won, and rightfully so, many of the social acceptance and freedoms that they now have, I believe that a lot of men would feel fighting for some things, like the social acceptance to wear short shorts, will be an affront to their straight-manhoodness.

Now, shorts for males are becoming shorter, right above the knee. I think that if somehow, a young alpha male pop cultural icon goes around in short shorts, then the look has a good chance of coming back. It will be a tough sell, but possible. I think that men should be allowed to wear short shorts if they want to. I know that I would.

That was the strangest thing about the whole anti-short shorts for guys thing. The number of women saying how 'gross' they were or going 'eww' at the thought of men showing their thighs. Are they grossed out seeing their SO naked? Who knows? lol Which is why I posted a thread about how when men are portrayed as sexy it's mainly their torsos showing.

Those teenage boys should be asking these GIRLS 'why don't you just say you're gay'. I've heard some say how much more beautiful the female body is. They say how gross men are, how they prefer lesbian porn. Tell me, who's not straight? Women are being conditioned to find males less and less sexy.

I see 'shorter' shorts coming back but I hate those shorts that go 1/2 down the calf. Most of my shorts are around knee-length. The shortest is maybe, 3 inches above the knees and they feel comfortable.

I don't understand why some girls, including overweight ones, wear those super short shorts, like you can see your butt-crack. Where are the women complaining about them? I find it distasteful. Why don't both men and women just wear reasonable length shorts, that are not slutty or ridiculous? Mid thigh to the knees or something is fine.

thing is, we have guys that say short shorts are at the knee, others that say mid calf, and others that say 4" inseam or less. We all need to be on the same page.

I'm a hetero guy, but please girls, you should all cover up, because your bodies are gross. But guys, please show it all off, because secretly I full of homosexual lust for you. Oh don't ever call me gay though.

Lol just kidding but yeah it doesn't make sense does it?

Are people blind or what?
