Default What body type is held up as ideal?

Of course everyone has their personal preferences, but I hear a lot about the unrealistic standards that society holds for men and women, how the ideal is nowhere near the average. So what is that ideal? What do you feel society or the media or the people around you in general is promoted and praised as closest to perfect?

Again, this isn't what you consider ideal, but the general feel you get from others. Are people celebrating size 2 women? Or the big booties (http://celebquestion.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/bikini-butt_249x368.jpg - broken link) of Kardashians? Or the fitness guru look?

Are men getting the most praise when they resemble classic Schwarzeneggar? Or is it the rockstar skinny-jeaned guys who are feeling the most love? Who gets the most society approval?

Or something else entirely? What is "ideal"?

Why care? No matter what size you are you're bound to attract someone. I'm underweight with small boobs and barely a bum, and I get the "looks" (usually from undesirables).

Kim kardashian has a large butt, she's not a size two but her body is still considered ideal. Her large rear doesn't make her plus size either. Men seem to like her body type the most.

I think the traditional feminine ideal is something like Christina Hendricks or Kim Kardashian. Small waist, big boobs, and defined hips.

This person may be a size 2 a size 10 or a size 20. It is the shape that matters.

I think that "athletic" is the ideal. Evidence that someone is active and/or works out. I don't mind if they have a "few extra pounds" but overweight or too skinny is not attractive to me. If I had to pick a name I would say Betti Page has the most attactive body I've ever seen.

I agree with "HEALTHY". I will also add natural. I am not against enhancement, especially as one ages. I see it as upkeep - as one would do on a house.

But anorexic models are neither healthy nor normal. Body builders are not either. Excess muscle stains the heart and I think we all know that steroids are bad news.

The best body is the one you get when you niether stave your self nor over eat. Exercise regularly, to firm and tone and define. Also, and most importantly, for your health.

I think that everyone can be reasonably in shape, not morbidly obese, anorexic, toned but not muscle bound if they avoid fast foods and eat when hungry - not for sport.

I am a vegetarian and eating low on the food chain is both compassionate and wise. Micky Dee's is poison. I'll bet the CEOs never eat that crap.

My body type.

So many beautiful women you posted there. I would take all of them. I have no preference.. well exception of some sort of booty is necessary.

Most of you are not reading the question. This is not your ideal or what the objectively perfect body is. I want to know what you feel society and the media says is the ideal body. What are these supposed unrealistic standards that people complain about?

Another thread suggested it was an extremely thin blonde with balloon boobs and a hulk of a man. I disagree and I see a very different body type getting praised most, but want to know what others perceive.
