I'm sure I've got a 100+ pairs of shoes -- athletic shoes, dress shoes, casuals, hiking boots, western boots, clogs. Most haven't been worn in a couple years or more, but they're in good condition so I hang onto 'em.
Eh, most are in good condition.
I'm a straight guy and not much concerned with fashion, except I don't wear black shoes with a brown suit nor brown shoes with a black suit.
I should go through the closet and toss some.

My husband had more pairs of shoes than I did until we went overseas last year and I found many pairs of really cute shoes for $10-$15 each, I'm cheap so that's what surpresed my shoe collection for a while.

We're talking a guy who actually owns that T-shirt with the howling wolves on it.
Women wear a lot more types of clothes in general than men do. For example, business wear at the office. A man can only wear slacks. A woman can wear a variety of skirts and dresses as well as pants, and the same shoes will not go with each outfit.

It seems like USA is full of stereotype on every little things. Its kinda like a guy having a Cat and he would be considered Gay.
Women have a lot of choice of styles and fashion but Men don't. Men can wear Khaki's and sometimes Cargo type pants too at work.

Good question. I think this applies to women who are very self-conscious about what they wear, how they wear it, etc. My mom is one of those women with 50+ shoes and problem is that they all look the same!

Shoes. Ahhh, shoes. When I was younger, and working, I had tons of shoes. I strongly favored leather shoes made in Brazil. They fit my foot and were stylishly smart. Something for every outfit. As time went on, I realized that I only needed a selection that could be switched around and minimized my collection. Then I went on the stage and collected again, mostly shoes that wouldn't be used for anything but performance, i.e., a pair of black "nun shoes". At that point, I had roughly 37 1/2 (I hurt my foot and had one of those awful booty things) pair.
Because most of the "stage shoes" weren't worn very often, they dried out and curled up in storage and have been discarded. Now I just have two pair - one black, one neutral - of character shoes.
For regular wear, I have about 10 pair, not including flip-flops for the beach. I reward myself with a spoonful of ice cream every time I come home from shopping without a new pair of shoes!

As a kid I used to have one pair of shoes I wore all day every day for about 2 years until they literally fell to pieces. These were like $150 Air Jordans or something like that.

I have so many because I'm always hoping the next pair will really be comfortable.

please don't speak for all men as if you are qualified to be the spokesman for the entire gender.
my beau has as many pairs of shoes as i do. i don't have fifty pairs like you would have most people think. i have a small collection ranging from combat boots to "fashion" boots to strappy 5" heels. different shoes for different outfits and occasions. his collection is similarly varied, from work boots to chuck taylors to dress shoes.

I am a woman and don't have many shoes. I actually hate shopping for shoes. I have two pairs of dress shoes, a pair of winter boots, a pair of every day sneakers, and flip flops.
