Besides, they get in the way of cuffs. If it were French cuffs, the effect is compounded. They also seem to take the focus away from cufflinks, which is a necessary accessory.

They can also come across as "deliberately" flashy, and it can be avoided. Some people wear it. Some people don't. The very fact that those who don't wear it is on the rise is proof that it's a thing of the past and humanity has evolved farther.

If anything, I'll invest in one of those "Alice in Wonderland" watches which the rabbit pulls out. That would be cool.
It's an accessory and I think a watch is almost a necessity if you're wearing a suit.

Who looks at cufflinks anyway? I rarely ever wear cufflinks but I ALWAYS wear a watch.

I don't think it's a sign that humanity has evolved, I think it's a sign that good taste is being lost on the coming generations.

I don't weat mine much right now - I've got baby and I scratched her with it when she was about 3 months old... she was ok, but I felt so bad! In any case, I'm a SAHM right now so I'm not on much of a set schedule when we're out and about so I tend to just use my cell phone then..

However, we also travel alot - I wear my watch then, I hate to be on a plane and not know how much longer the flight is...

I am former military and visit my husband at his work on a military base... can't take my phone there since it has a camera so I wear my watch then too

May you also add Mister Tee's gold chain right above the tie or in its place?

Obviously you don't work in the corporate world. The majority of executives, officers, and other persons of importance wear a watch with their suit and tie.

When things don't go the way you expect, always make assumptions. Use emoticons in the process. You get 5 brownie points, Speedy. Gold spot price is on the rise, FYI.

Back up some of your statements if you want someone to take you seriously.

Have you seriously ever stepped in the corporate world? Tale a look around and see how many wear watches, you'd be surprised.

Why do I care about the price of gold exactly? Obviously you're the one now making an assumption that I wear a gold watch.

If my husband is wearing cufflinks, he's most definitely wearing a dress watch.

I love watches. My husband got me hooked when we were dating. I just wish I had the funds to expand my collection. My watch is like my engagement ring & wedding band...I won't leave home without one.

And yes, I do look at people's wrists to see what and who they're sporting.

You're very similar to me! Actually I compared my watch wearing habits to my wedding band/ engagement ring earlier in the thread! DH also got me into watches (and wears watches with his cufflinks).

A watch is much more than an instrument to tell time, it can be a piece of fine craftsmanship that can complement business attire or go with jeans and a tee.
My hubby and I are both under 30, so you can't blanket correlate wearing a watch to age. I usually check my watch over my cell phone, often because I can't be bothered to dig my cell phone of out my purse!

Agree with you that I think it's a complement to your look on top of being a functional tool.

You quickly formed an opinion on my professional background merely becoz I disagreed with your personal notion that professionals of today should wear something which many consider is an unnecessary accessory. I can tell you one thing though. I'm not a "Global manager" LMAO.

And no I wasn't implying you were wearing a gold watch. I was making a pejorative reference to Mister T flashing his gold chains, that is all.

I understand you love your watches. But let's make it very clear it's a personal preference. It would be as asinine as me fretting that young professionals don't wear cufflinks, which many don't. It's a matter of personal sense of style, like the scarf thread. I said men wore watches in neanderthal times, again, that's my opinion and a reason why I do not wear a watch. I'd never frown upon a dude who wears them. I have a set of reasons why I am not too cozy with a watch.

If it looks good on you, perfect. But all professionals don't need it.
