But not including tennis shoes or your basic flip flops. Cute sandels or something like that. I am going on vacation to Europe and we will be doing a tremendous amount of walking!

I've found Sketchers to be extremely comfortable. They have lots of styles and colors (over 100, if I recall correctly), they have good support and most have very springy bottoms with more "give" than sneakers. While I wouldn't wear them as professional wear, they make excellent casual wear and, if you're going to be on your feet or doing a lot of walking, they are dreamy.

One great feature about them is many of the styles are slip on. If you're traveling, sprinting through the airport from one gate to another, when you have to go through security, these shoes are dreamy. No sore feet, no hassling with laces before or after security.

I've noticed a lot of nurses and other folks who have to be on their feet a lot are now wearing them. Oh, and did I mention they are very reasonable, costwise? Definitely worth a look.

My wife finally convinced me to buy SAS. I've always refused to spend that much on shoes because they never last very long for me.

Wrong.

My first pair was purchased for a planned trip to Las Vegas, where we always overdo walking. I suffered from a bout of Polio when I was four and have some residual problems. When I walk for a long time my legs ache, like anyone else's, but then they start to cramp. I also have some hip pain.

I can walk farther with less pain and cramping with SAS then any shoe I've ever owned. I also bought their socks which are now the only socks I wear except for when I'm working in the yard. Nice and cushy.

And that first pair of shoes I bought 4 years ago? They are now my outside work shoes.

I now own two pair in black (for work) and one pair of white for casual.

My feet, legs and hips thank me every time I wear them.

Munro Shoes
I bought a pair of Munro sandals that have taken me all over Italy, the Greek islands, the Croatian coast, France and Germany.

Birkenstock clogs, and sandals.

I'm not talking about the typical ugly Birkies. I found some really cute, very feminine ones that were nice to look at and a dream to walk in. Those babies lasted me at least 7 years.

I'd have to agree with acegirl - 'born" or maybe "terra firma" ( or "terra plana" I think this was the name of the brand - my brother "borrowed" them from me)

I am a big Born fan too.

The most comfortable shoes I haven't been able to bring myself to spend the $$ on yet are mephisto. I'd say they're better than Borns, but 3 times the price.

I love Sofft shoes! I spend alot of time on my feet and they feel just as wonderful the last hour as they did the first. I have also been very impressed with the Croc heeled sandals that I bought recently at Macy's. Get on the Croc web-site and check out their designer line - very cute platform or heeled sandals that are amazingly comfortable!
