But how many times have you heard these men praised for their BODIES?

Whereas I've heard women with average bodies being called sexy. I guess because men are just more turned on by the female form in general, and women have been brainwashed to think of females as objectively the 'prettier' sex.
I don't have a washboard stomach (6/12 pack) and don't want one. The guys who have the best ones had to really cut some weight before their photoshoot. You can have a flat stomach and still be fine. Who wants a 30 or 32" waist anyway. I remember when I joined my gym years ago, that is what the kid working there was implying. I laughed at him. I had a 34" in the 8th grade. Don't want one now either!

I guess I don't understand what you're saying. Men and women are attracted by different things, so we have different criteria than you do. I do think the "butterface" is more common among the women that straight men find attractive, if that's what you mean. When women list what they are first attracted to, they usually mention eyes, mouth, smile, hands, face, etc., moreso than butt, thighs, pecs, etc. Men are more likely to mention legs, breasts, butt, or they say things like "I'm an ass man."

We view sexiness differently, that's all.
Granted...yet the fact women will obsess over their own body/constantly comment on/compare/be aware of other women's bodies just shows how the female form has been objectified to a greater extent. That might be just a side-effect of how attraction works between the sexes.

But obviously, if a woman won't accept even a guy with a normal physique, but some artificially sculpted gym rat's physique (some women) it shows some women do care quite a bit about a guy's bod and this standard is different.

Especially as the mathematician in Jurrassic Park.. Somehow that man can make smarmy sexy.

Trimac I think your premise is totally off here.

Erm just watch National Geographic. The people in hunter gatherer societies are closest to what we are supposed to be like living on a natural diet, having physical activity.

What's more, they are scantily clad so one can observe the human form as it should be.

Men are not weak, have the requisite muscles, but tend to be lean...women can be lean but also have curves, a medium between today's fashion ideal and the overweight ideal of 18th century Europe.

I don't know, I think as usual people are just not getting the core of what I'm trying to say.

I like a good looking face and a hot brain and personality to go with it. Jeremy Northam is another film crush of mine.

All of that is more important than the body. And muscles big enough to have a bunch of sticky-outy tendons... I'm sorry, no.

(disclaimer... I do love me a set of nice strong arms too, baseball pitchers have nice ones )

Nah, it's just what some peoples idea of what a "fit" body is. Dan Henderson is a GREAT example. Do you see a six pack or twelve pack? Hell no you don't. He's meaner than a hornet and will break your legs and chin. http://martialartsinportlandoregon.c...n-Portland.jpg

Like another thread, it seems women focus on men's upper body (torso).

I think the reason why different body parts are emphasized in the genders is related to how attraction works in each gender plus social programming.

In a woman, the breasts and hips, and the lips...

In men the signs of strength I suppose like the pecs and arms.

One thing that doesn't make sense is how women seem to have a monopoly on legs being a sexy body part. Nothing innate about that.

The buttocks seem more a female sign - although some women appreciate a nice behind on a man.

That's cause most of y'all have skinny little frog legs!

Women generally carry more strength in their lower half, men in their upper.

My husband claims my legs were the first thing he noticed.. which I've always found hard to believe.

Well yes men typically have greater upper body strength. I read the average women has 50% of the upper body strength and 65% of the lower body strength of the average man.
