This is how nature/God made our bodies. It's completely natural to have hair in places, as we are mammals. Why do so many people find it so distasteful? Our preference here in America for shaven armpits and legs and other things is completely cultural, something that we have tacked on to ourselves willingly. So, sure, have a preference; that's fine. But, it really shouldn't freak people out so much. I bet all this shaving was some kind of a super successful marketing plan, anyway. Do you think our great grandmothers had time to do all of that shaving when they lacked a lot of our modern conveniences?

DH and I were at a conference together at a resort in Mexico about 15 years ago. We were at lunch. You could see the beach from the dining room, and all the Americans were gawking at a topless woman on the beach who was sunbathing. All eyes were glued to this poor woman until she happened to raise her arms and OMG, you would have thought she'd puked on the dinner table. People were, dare I say, up in arms over the fact that she did not shave her underarms. They were more gobsmacked by that than by the fact that she barely had any clothes on. Well, that was the end of that attraction. Everyone turned back to their lunch after a chorus of "Ohhhhhhh's" and "Ewwwww's."

Of course it makes us look like apes. Duh.

C'mon, people. It's hair. It's natural. Get over it.

Yeah, it's like American women walking down the street in Saudi Arabia without her face covered. The nerve!

I think the whole "oh women should shave thing" is biased and foolish. Why don't men shave their armpits then? Or their leg? They don't look any good with all that hair.

Get over it people!

I like that there's less friction when I move my arms. No hair under there for me!

Dare I say...I like being hairfree, except for my head, eyebrows and eyelashes. It's worth the effort to me, which doesn't seem like much at all.

Underarm hair tends to retain secretions under the arms. More susceptible to odor. I shave for hygiene purposes, looks secondary. I don't like hairy backs on men, hairy chests okay, backs...uhmmmmmm....
