Give us your vote on some of these top trends:
1. Houndstooth pattern - in moderation...

2. Capes - worth checking into, potentially very chic!

3. Animal prints - great accent, but best applied sparingly (IMO)

4. Purple - love it

5. Bows - nope

6. Chunky knits - great, as long as it doesn't look sloppy

7. Metallics - fun in moderation, great for evening wear, lovely for accessories

8. School boy look - not digging the "knickers"-style wool pants, but do like menswear-inspired

My adds:

9. Tweed - hurrah! The more, the merrier!

10. Skirt suits - ok as long as the skirt is of an appropriate length and no hose is required

I was dead-set against the high-waist aka mom jeans too until I tried on a pair. I couldn't believe how flattering they were to my figure! I'm short and hippy so its hard to find jeans that fit nicely. The pair I bought were wide-leg and only came up to my stomach. I figured I can pair them with a chunky sweater or leather jacket since I don't like tucking in my shirts anyway, and work it out.

I've never really cared what the "gurus" proclaim fashionable. If something looks good on me, it's in. After all, whatever I like comes in fashion every so often..., like my lifetime favorite eye liner, for instance. The fashion becomes a problem when the stores are flooded with certain items and you can't find anything you like. Have major shoe problem right now - IMHO most shoes are either ugly, or uncomfortable, or usually both.

Okay, numbers 1,2,5 and 8 conjures up images of mary poppins or nurse Crachett. I'm okay with animal prints on something removable like say, a scarf or a bracelet/bangle. I will never ever wear bows (ever) and I'm not into the school boy look (but I may rethink that If I find something really cute.

Default Fall Trends

1. Houndstooth pattern - No,don't like it

2. Capes - Maybe for a costume party!

3. Animal prints - Yes in moderation and preferably as accents

4. Purple - Love it - have lots of purplish hues in my wardrobe.

5. Bows - Only if they are small accents

6. Chunky knits - No

7. Metallics - Only for fancy occasions and even then just as accents

8. School boy look - forget it!

I typically don't follow fashion much I choose what I like and disregard the rest. If it looks good on me, I wear it.

I have a terrible time finding dress pants to fit me correctly. I have a long torso and long legs, but I'm only 5'6" and the tall sizes are often too long in the crotch and the regular sizes are usually too short in the crotch area!! It is hit or miss with pants, so I wear a lot of dresses. Ironically, I have an easier time finding jeans to fit me than dress pants; but I can't wear jeans to work.

I love a lot of the new a-line jersey wrap dresses that are in the stores and catalogs. They work well for me. I also love the platform pumps, much more comfortable than regular pumps.

5. Bows - no, no, no

6. Chunky knits - no

7. Metallics - if done well

8. School boy look - no

Give us your vote on some of these top trends:

1. Houndstooth pattern ........Yes...IF I was 20 lbs. lighter and 20 years younger!

2. Capes........Not at any age....they look Victorian to me

3. Animal prints......I love them and still wear them - as a sweater/blouse or accents ....not an entire outfit

4. Purple........NO!

5. Bows.......I WILL NOT repeat the big bows of the 80's!!

6. Chunky knits......Sure in a sweater would be nice!

7. Metallics....again in moderation....a little goes a long way....I refuse to wear the GOLD lame' pants I wore in the 80's!!!

8. School boy look.....UGH.....NO!!!!

Feel free to add your own too.
How about classic looks...I have HATED the jackets on suits the last few years. They are too SHORT! I wear suits for work and shorts or jeans for play....that about does it for me. Guess I'm boring!

1. Houndstooth pattern--sure, it's ok

2. Capes--probably not

3. Animal prints--sure, but I feel like this trend comes back in every two years so it's nothing new

4. Purple--yes (also, any jewel tones are in and I love jewel tones)

5. Bows--depends, not a huge fan of the big, droopy 80s type around the collar of silk shirts

6. Chunky knits--sure

7. Metallics--depends but yes if it doesn't look cheap

8. School boy look--not really

Other new looks are:

9. Shirts with puffy sleeves--some look ridulous--like a pirate or a peasant. Some are super poofy around the shoulders which I guess would work if you have no shoulders but I look like a football player in them.

10. Wide belts--gives a great hourglass shape to most outfits

11. High waisted skirts--If worn with a wide belt and a silky shirt, gives a really nice hourglass shape and looks sleek
