i made an appointment, but a lot of people just walked in, i think if they are very busy, like they were on the Saturday morning i went, you do have to rough dry your own hair, (i did, but they styled it for the final wash and dry) but if you go on a weekday, or a less busy time, i dont think you have to dry it yourself,

Since I was the one who started this thread, I thought its my duty to update it
Well, after a lot of thinking and research I finally got my hair permanently straightened from Hair Village in NY - Japanese straightening . I love my new hair !!!! It's not only straight , but it feels so so healthy and soft . Quite a transition from my earlier hair Its so sleek and shiny I could feature in a shampoo commercial .. LOL Including tips and all the price came to 210$ which I think is very reasonable because my hair is really very thick and it took much more time to get done compared to the others who had started the process alongside me.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the results and I hope it stays this way forever ..

very good!! glad you decided go for it!! the price was indeed quite reasonable, as i said mine was $150, and that was over 3 years ago, and my hair is not very thick and was also coloured, so i would have got the process finished a lot earlier than thoses who had it started at the same time,

Default Curly Girl the handbook

I took this book out of the library. I must admit if you follow what she says, it works. I have curly/wavy hair.

My Co-worker just told me about Hair Village. I been researching and reading reviews since yesterday. I read in one of the reviews that it damages your hair. Is this true? Can it cause breakage to the hair and the roots?

I heard that too, but I look at celebrities who've had it done (as I don't know anyone in real life that has) such as Kathy Griffin who admitted she did it and her hair looks great. Right now I straighten my hair with a CHI ION blowdryer and brush and I get breakage from that. So maybe it would be worth trying?

I say - embrace it! I have curly hair and it's super-easy, low-maintenance, and looks great with product.

Thanks. I really want to do it but at the same time i'm thinking really hard about it. I spoke to my aunt today that's a hair stylist and she said to go for it. But like everything else it has its pros and cons.

I was thinking if I blow dry my hair every 3 to 4 days it damages the hair as well so like you said I think Im going to just go for it Thanks.

I will keep you post it when i get it done.
