What is it about American culture where it is taboo for a man to be skinny? I was looking at pictures of people in Germany, Russia, and Colombia are most of the guys are thin, even scrawny compared to American men.

Because being skinny is associated with being weak, the opposite of what men are expected to be.
But no worries, it's not as if women are shunning all skinny guys and only going after the muscle heads. This is just about ideals, not reality.
And while in real life a guy like this would probably intimidate the snot out of me, oh my, he is nice to look at.
I saw Magic Mike last week with my office. It gave me a new appreciation for Alcide.

A lot of people are posting pics of celebrities for reference, and it's interesting to note what Paul Newman or Cary Grant or Burt Reynolds looked like in their prime. They were considered to be sex symbols at the time, but they weren't anywhere close to being built like Joe Manganiello.
No it's not, but people still managed to post pics. Just why make outlandish claims that you have 'a body on par with brad pitt,' and nothing to back it up, is all? Basically anyone can say anything on here, so I'll just take that with a grain of salt and leave it at that! LOL.
