It used to be that if you only wore one ear ring and that was in your right ear, you were gay. And then scads of people started doing it "just because."
It is/was also a sailing thing. Something like you had crossed the equator.
It used to be that when sailors crossed the equator, it was some tradition to get an earring. Later on, I think that tradition also took on the tattoo as well.
why does everything have to mean something.
earing in the left ear, the right ear.
the left nipple the right nipple, the head of a penis, the ears, the eyebrows, the lips....etc..
it all means nothing, it just means someone chose to have an earing there.
I have a left nipple pierced because I have a full right arm tattoo...it balances it trhat way.
