Unless your really over the hill like moi. you wont know what a duster coat is or was.. I never had one as they were out in the late 50s but I loved them.. they had a swing back, one button I think or none and no lining.. they were usually in bright greens if I remember and I dreamed about wearing one.. the nearest I got by the time I was old enough was a persianelle fur coat.. in brown with a mink collar. now when I think of a 16 year old girl wearing this coat like a granny I feel sick. but was the fashion back then...

they make them but more up to date / fitted. and look great. they are called swing coats now since duster is not appealing to the new generation

do you know why they were called Duster coats, was it because they had no lining...

to keep the dust off of their clothes. They were made of canvas or oilcloth.

I had a wonderful long wool coat in the 70's, with a full red fox collar, and cuffs--my mom had numerous furs, I think some are still in cold storage.
