What are the official rules on wearing white after Labor Day? I remember that years ago, no white was allowed except for shirts and sweaters. Then, I heard that one can wear white anywhere except for shoes. Which one is the official rule of 2007? Also, does weather matter? In the South, it's still in the 80s and 90s, can one wear white pants or white shorts?

Default Still wearing white in Dallas...

All I have ever heard is "no white before Easter and no white after Labor Day."
That said, here in Dallas, people all over are still wearing white! An pretty much will until the weather gets cooler and more Fall and Winter clothes get pulled out.

You can wear winter whites -- such as cream corduroys, like the one that are selling at JCrew right now. White shoes after Labor Day is a no-no, but then again, I don't have any white shoes anyway. And it's probably too late in the year for white linen too.

Sorry its hot as heck here in south florida. I wear white year round. I can't ever remember what the rules are for wearing white. I have to say, however that if I lived up north, I would follow the fashion rules. I think the environment and change of seasons makes it easier to follow certain rules than others.

Fashion rules are stupid anyway.
I agree with the poster that says wear what you want.
In Texas, I see people wearing white all year.
