I live in Florida and it's rare to see women without painted toenails. The only time in my life I've had naked toes was when I lived up north and I wore socks and boots most of the winter. Even then I wouldn't do it for long. They just look so bare. The only exception is if the woman has a nice tan and her nails are buffed and shiny.

my toe nails have not been bare since before I was a teenager. I turn 65 in a few days.

I actually like to wear crazier colors on my toes than my fingers. I usually just buff my fingernails or do a clear coat, but on my toes--esp. in the summer--I've worn sparkling blue, bright orange, lemon yellow and key lime green.

Getting my mani and pedi next weekend before my trip to Fort Lauderdale. Gonna do a nice subtle pink with perhaps one finger with a design.

Years ago at work I was talking to a man in the hallway and instead of looking at my chest, as some men are known to do, or my face, he kept glancing down at my feet. I was wearing sandals and my toes were polished. I picked up on it right away and assumed that he had a foot fetish. I mentioned it to a couple women I worked with. One told me I should put my leg up on my desk and adjust the strap on my sandal the next time he talked to me. I said no, not because I didn't want to "tease" him but because I didn't want to torment him. From that point on the other couple women and I referred to him as "Toes" when talking about him.

I have always like doing my toes and finger nails being in my early teens.

Here is why....

1. It is cheap and fun way to add personality to your appearance ( for around $1 or 2) you can make a statement.

2. It is something you can do yourself and learn to do well.

3. Bonding. I can't speak for everyone .. but this is somethign I have always enjoyed doing with freinds even together in our own homes. I don't know about other people... but I have good memories of doing this sort of stuff with freinds as a teen.

The good thing about toe nails is that they are easier to maintain. Unlike hand, the nail polish applied to toes does not chip as quickly and you don't get them messed up as much when waiting for them to dry compared to hands.

I actually think it is kind of cute that a guy would appreciate this kind of stuff lol. I have never ever been in a relationship with a guy who appear to care the least bit about stuff like this. If anything they were complaining ( ... you scratched me... you are doing your nails again... why do you put those chemicals on your hands ). I honestly really doubted most of the men I know even notice any kinds of details...ex jewelry style .... accessories ... . The only people I am use to getting compliments on regarding stuff that like are other females or gay men. Complements from straight men tend to be more sexual ex regarding to the body ... not what is on it. Men ... more I am hear ... the more confused I am .

I do, but only to make them less hideous. lol :/ I do dark red, which has always been my favorite. I don't paint my fingernails, though, although I used to be into nail polish and lots of different colors, and still have lots of them. But I like them natural, and people always say what nice nails I have. I did date a guy, though, that said long nails are weird...lol, I didn't get that. Maybe he was actually into guys? He also wanted to shave my arm hair. lol

Nice to see this thread make a comeback 4 years after I started it. I have been complimenting women who have nice nails (both toe and finger). I am surprised how much they love this. It very much flatters them, much more than typical compliments do. The reason I started doing it is I wanted to counteract any negative comments they hear such as the ones you mentioned. I consider these guys my enemies in a sense as their agenda is to make women look more plain.

I also want to mention that even if I have great appreciation for how good it looks when women paint their toe nails, I do not have a full blown foot fetish.

I have my toes done with an colored acrylic powder overlay. Lasts much longer than a normal pedi, have perfect nails and go back for a fill every six weeks or so.

I started doing this during the summer as I like lots of swimming pool time. Liked the look and will keep it up.
