I wore glasses from age 3 to 15 when I got contacts. I'm now 61 and I still wear them. They are harder to get out sometimes because my eyes are drier, but I prefer them over glasses.

I like 'em and have been wearing them for so many yeas. Heck, Ive mastered putting them on anywhere, no mirror needed. Eventually will get some glasses for backup, gut for now...

Default contacts

I've worn contacts for 30 years and always said I'd never go back to glasses. Started out with the old HARD lenses. Yes a hard piece of plastic in my eyes. Miserable to 'get used to" . When I changed to Boston Gas Perm's fell in love......until my allergies kicked in, the meds made my eyes dry out.... constantly putting eye drops in. Pollen in the south in the spring is miserable....chunks of yellow/green boulders that get between your lens and eye....my god..stick me with a 2 X 4!!!!!!!!!!!!! never failed to happen when I was driving, eye waters so much it swells shut, makeup all over...but ain't gonna give up these lenses.

Lay down for a 15 minute power nap and have to put in drops, the lenses are stuck... scratched my eyelids trying to take them out....stinging like I've never felt.

Then came the dreaded "readers' have to have 3 pairs, 1 in my desk, 1 by my chair at home and 1 in the purse.....finally broke down and got a fancy pair of real glasses and found myself wearing the glasses every weekend "to rest my eyes". In June had to go to Atlanta to be with my mom when she got out of the rehab center after her broken hip and I decided wasn't gonna take the lenses. That way if I wanted to read, had to read something, wasn't searching for the readers. Yes, when I got back tried the lenses for about 2 weeks, then said enough, I've been wearing the glasses everyday and love it, bifocal is there when I need it, eyes don't get as tired at the computer all day. Keep the lenses for "occasions", but I've had enough fighting to keep them comfortable, fighting the pollen, Don't try to ride with my crazy blonde friend in the converterable....It's glasses for me now.

Contact lens wearer for the last 14 years here.
It takes a little bit of getting used to, but I much prefer them to glasses all the time.

I am actually a chicken....

I need my glasses if I am driving, watching tv, at the computer, reading... but if I am just sitting with friends chit chatting/hanging out... then no I don't need them... would wearing them be helpful...Most likely... I just don't want to be hostage to lenses... All of my friends tell me to get contacts... I am afraid to touch my eyes.... I just can't do it... I would try them for the convenience of it all if I could just get over that fear....

I didn't know there were a such thing as bifocal and multi-focal contact lenses. Wow, where have I been. I also were contacts and have glasses for backup. I like them both for different reasons. My glasses give me a sophisticated look and I like to dress up in them sometimes. As for my contacts, I wear them when I really want to look cute or when I'm going to an amusement park or something and don't want to loose my glasses.
