So why would you keep your cell phone turned on and in use for so much of the day? People used to talk about how they caused brain cancer.

The cancer risk hasn't magically gone away. If anything it's worse because the popularity of using cell phones has increased. Practically everyone has a cell phone now. I would worry more about that than a risk of a simple skin rash.

I carry a cell phone but keep it turned off most of the time. The only real use for carrying them with you is in case of emergencies.

Because the alleged cancer risk isn't well supported by the evidence. There's no definitive correlation between cell phone use and cancer and until everyone starts popping up with phone shaped brain tumours, I'll take the possibly imagined risk over the desire to rip the skin off my wrist.

Maybe you only use cell phones for emergencies, but I assure you the majority of cell phone users have them for far more extensive purposes. I'm not trying to be critical, I'm just saying that the cell phone is very integrated into the lives of most young people (and plenty of not-so-young people), so it makes sense that they would rather pull their phone out to check the time rather than bother with a wristwatch.

A wristwatch was a part of my daily "stuff" that I put on every morning.......for 57 years.

The day I retired I took off my wristwatch placing it in my jewelry box and that was the last time I saw it....10 years ago.

Yep - scare tactics USED to be in the news.
But there is NO evidence of that, so the talk faded away.

I'm not so sure why it's such a big deal that some people choose to use their cellphone for the time. It's just how it is. I really really can hardly stand things touching my skin. I usually even have my hair up most always because I can't even handle my hair touching my skin.

My phone is in my hand and I look at it for the time. Not a big deal. Watches also make my arm sweat and that is just nasty.

I wear one every day. I have got two Tissot watches (fairly inexpensive), both with leather straps. I am planning to buy a new watch with a rubber strap.

I'm 40 and haven't worn a watch in at least 15 years. I rarely carry a cell phone.

I'm a male and I wear one every day. I'm a watch fan, though, so I'm hardly unbiased.

It's the only form of male "jewelry", aside from my wedding ring, that I'll ever wear. I have 4 watches that see wrist time, two more than the others.

Every day.

Wearing a watch to me is just a routine part of getting dressed for the day, like putting on underwear.

Every day, and if I misplace my watch I go nuts trying to find it as I can't stand leaving home without it. The sad part is it tends to run fast and I look at my cell when I REALLY want to know what time it is.
