I'm not a man but I wear black socks with black tennis shoes. Usually it's at the gym but sometimes I wear them out when I know I'm going to do a lot of walking.

I don't like white tennis shoes and there is no way in hell I'm going to wear white socks with black shoes.

Pretty much what yayoi said, and I am a man.

If I wear black shoes to the gym, I wear black socks. When I wear my blue/white shoes, I wear white socks.

I don't see the big deal here? As DRob said, it's been around since the early 90s when the Fab Five started wearing black socks during their games.

I don't wear black tennis shoes/trainers with casual clothes, but if I did....

Black socks and sandals has been around as long as old men and black socks and sandals have been around. I personally think it looks ridiculous however, I personally could care less what someone else wears in public. I'm not real excited about some of the things Sneakers wears in public but I don't say anything, his body, his clothing and he is a grown man who can dress as he wants.

I figured it's not a trend but just how someone dresses if they don't give a darn about how they appear to the public.

It's a trend among teens.

The "in" thing right now is Nike Elite socks (intended for basketball) with athletic shorts and running shoes.

The all black Nike Elites are somewhat cheaper and they can get them in a 3 or 6 pack, so that's what they buy.

I wouldn't expect a grown man to wear this style though. It looks bad enough on the kids!

So the Fab 5 is also credited with men wearing black socks in summer? I know they kind of gave us the trend of long shorts that all men now wear.

Go back and look at the pics. They popularized black atheletic socks, yes. Actually, Jordan should get credit for the influence of longer shorts - while his weren't as overly-long as the guys from the Fab Five (I'm looking at YOU, Jalen), he is certainly the genesis of the longer shorts in the basketball world.
