I'm wondering...because I hear/read that phrase a lot but it's unclear what it means. Last time I checked, any person with a vagina was a real woman. Has that changed, cuz I didn't get the memo.

Can only overweight women be "real" now? I'm a size 4, so does that not make me real? I have lady parts inside and out...and I've given birth twice. Does that count?

At what size does being a real woman start....12?....14?....20?

Are you only real if most other women look like you do?

*confused*

That is an annoyingly over-used phrase.

Um, I've never heard that...but I'm going to go with your first assessment...parts make the woman!!

I don't think size has anything to do with it even if that's a "catch" phrase. It's nonsense. I don't like it any more than I like "man up"...people are cray-cray!!

If I read or hear "real woman" in advertising in regard to a product, I avoid said product, because that phrase really does annoy me.

I've known some women born without vaginas or without female reproductive organs. I'm not even talking about transgenders, straight up women with birth defects. There are also women born with only a single X chromosome and women born with XY chromosomes (see: AIS).

The more I learn, the more gender feels like it's too slippery to define, but I certainly know that your gender is not defined by the amount of fat you carry or where you carry it.

When I hear that phrase, I think of it referring to people before they're made-up by professionals and photoshopped.

Just another PC phrase like plus size, or BBW...once was a time when some guys could just say "man, I like me a big girl"
