I was telling my dermatologist I would like to get rid of some sun spots on my face and he prescribed Hydroquinone 4%. Has anyone used this with good results? Were the spots totally removed or just lightened? Did you continue to use after they were already lightened? He didn't explain how to apply. I started yesterday by washing face, applying to spots, waiting a few minutes and then applying moisturizer. Would you say this is the best way to use it? I didn't know if I should add moisturizer over the Hydroquinone.

I used Triluma which worked great at getting rid of sunspots. It's a mixture of retin-A, hydroquinone, and something else.

Thanks. If what I already purchased doesn't work, I'll look into it. Do you apply that, let it dry and then apply moisturizer over it?

Yeah, I usually apply it to the spot and wait for 15 minutes, and then add the night cream. It's prescription only, and pricey if I recall. If you live close to Mexico or Canada it's cheaper.

Apply it at night. You're not supposed to apply it then go out in the sun

I used it many years ago and it worked to lighten my freckles. I noticed a difference after about 6 months.

Good for sunspots/ freckles, not so good for melasma. Determine what types of spots you have OP - so you're not disappointed.

I have two spots of melasma and hydroquinone has done zilch to remove them. What's worse is now cystic acne acts up beneath these two dime-sized spots and creates a dark acne mark layered under (or over?) a melasma spot. I'm close to using a knife to remedy this ridiculousness.

That crap will only worsen your acne. You need to do a number of things: change your diet AND detox...like a total lymphatic detox (milk thistle, nettle etc works well along with certain fruits) because a good diet doesn't mean your system in clean, & your acne will remain. Dirty liver, clogged lymphatic nodes = bad acne.

Meantime...use tea tree oil (Jamieson's is great) to dab on spots, & use organic cleansers & apple cider vinegar.

FYI, my holistic doctor says anything with retin A is bad news, especially for women.

Here.

It's not recommended for use on your face.
