Yes and no. The richest person I know (worth half a billion or so) buys off the rack when he buys at all. There are only two things he gets custom made, dress shirts and shoes. My husband has custom dress shirts as well, they aren't that expensive.

Agreed--it lasts forever and is worth the money. I was going to call it an investment, but I don't think it's expensive enough to warrant using that word.

Rich "kids" don't dress like that. Their grandfathers and weird uncles do.

That's a TV show. If you watch Real Housewives everyone wears evening gowns all day. It's not reality. I have friends who are brain surgeons and chief of thoracic surgery, they wear scrubs at the hospital and jeans and polo's that their wives buy them at Kohl's and JC Penney when off duty.

I agree that shoes are a good indicator. But I believe accessories are telling as well. Some types of accessories do go on sale for 70% off. And others never go on sale at all. These are the ones that are the giveaways. Certain bags etc are only available for retail pricing. And this isn't typically the bridge lines.

I only know one couple who has worldwide real estate holdings, and frankly I don't actually believe that they have as much money as they allude to.
Maybe it's just Asians that like housing so much.

Regardless, there are some things anyone with some coin can buy and fake being rich. Other things require a real monetary investment. Clothing falls in to the former. Exotic car collections the latter. Orders of magnitude difference.

From what I've seen, rich kids and middle class kids all shop at the same places, and no kid wants to be known as the preppy kid.

Forgot the question was about kids, was thinking adult women. My bad.
