Guys - please. Don't wear your little brother's clothes. Dress like a man. Between the non beard stubble and these tiny clothes, many of these guys look like fourteen year olds who are really, really proud that they could manage to squeeze out a few chin hairs, but who have had a growth spurt and their mama can't afford to buy them new clothes yet.

Real man:

Not a real man:
Sounds like you've been introduced to hipster fashion. The thing with hipsters is that they want to look like they don't care, like they just threw on whatever in the morning and ran with it, when in fact the whole look is a careful affectation of casualness.

Right - and their carefully tousled hair is another sure give away.

Honestly, these little, uncomfortable looking shirts and sweaters some guys are wearing now look RIDICULOUS. Why do they want to look like adolescents rather than men? I don't get it at all.

Give me this look ANY day:

Or this one:

Or this one:

Or, heck, all these at once!

Now - please note on this last photo:

1. Most of the men have facial hair. But guys - IT'S TRIMMED. It's not all thin and spotty and sickly looking.

2. Their jackets are short - BUT THEY'RE NOT TIGHT. And they're not too small around the shoulders. AND THEY ARE BIG ENOUGH TO BUTTON IN THE FRONT and still be comfortable.

No, I don't expect you to go out and buy clothing styles from the 1800s. But what do these manly styles have in common with the other photos from this era? In case you don't know, I'll tell you - they enhance the masculinity of the wearer. They FIT. They don't look skimpy and pathetic.

I rock the face hair all the time now, but I keep it short and sharp looking...3-5 day stubble. I still use the razor to shave my upper/lower lip and under chin/neck area. I feel naked totally clean shaven though.

Unfortunately mustaches are coming back into style too. Hate mustaches, especially the hipster twerps with the handlebars. Blech.

I shave just once a week, but not to be on the fashion bandwagon. Shaving everyday, at least for me is time consuming and depending on the day, torture. Luckily, I work in a "relaxed professional" environment, so I can get by with this. When I was in the military, I remember the daily ritual of shaving.

I at least trim the growth so it looks neat for work. Each day, I apply lotion to the growth. Once it's time to shave it off, it is less painful as opposed to shaving each day.

Haha you women must be from an older time. But not to worry, if you're still in the market there are plenty of hairy, manly, suit wearing types, even in hipster central Portland. You just have to aim above a certain age group, and in the right professional circles.

Likewise for me, being very young, female hipster fashion can be very irritating..but it's not as bad as the male version because of a lack of facial hair.
