Always a good idea to check the Black Tie Guide for formal and semiformal clothing questions.

It is important to note that the BTG refers to this kind of tie as a fad, and I completely agree.

Simple enough, a cross or continental tie on top, very big in the 50's and 60's. On the bottom picture it may be just a large sort of bow tie with the ends left under the collar
