I may not even buy any, but I would like to know which of these two pair of shoes would be the ones to go with. I'm going to Mexico in exactly one month and I need shoes to wear with shorts or otherwise very casually. My regular brown leather flip flops aren't exactly ideal for all the walking and cobblestone streets. Not to mention I'm staying on the tiered ridge of a mountain which is quite the hike to and from town. Both pair are made for shorts and warm weather.

It's just a bit of a trek up cobblestone streets, stairs, pathways. Not quite a literal hike or hiking for sport.

Both pair have relatively rugged rubber soles. The second pair is a bit more rugged. I definitely like the super casual "distressed" leather better. I guess it's the soles that I'm confused about. The 2nd pair have soles that look like tire tread.
Loafers with shorts remind me Charlie in Two and Half Men.
I will choose other style: Timberland or Caterpillar are good for long walkings, for vacation I prefer sport shoes: Nike or Reebok.
Did the character Charlie on the show really ever wear loafers with shorts? I haven't noticed. I'm not a fan of his style of shirts, whatever they're called.
^I don't like those shoes, the socks, or his overall outfit. I agree, it doesn't look good. But that character is super wealthy and has a certain charm, so it doesn't matter if he dresses "easy".
Anyway, 'neither' is leading in the poll. There could be other reasons, but I'm thinking a lot of folks don't like or aren't personally acclimated with the idea of loafers with shorts.
Personally, I've figured out what's troubling me and that's that I like the 2nd pair's leather and stiching better, but prefer the sole of the first. And there's not really anything I can do about that. I might have to go to their store and have a look in person.

That style is called "Bowling Alley 1962".
Buy your shoes IN Mexico.
