I like slip ons or loafers. Sometimes canvas deck shoes.

Personally, I've been wearing a pair of Ecco loafers for a couple years now. I'm 26. I don't see any reason for wearing athletic shoes unless for a specific purpose. Loafers seem like the best option. I'm wanting to maybe upgrade to a nicer pair of loafers for casual wear, but have a fear of making choices that are 'too old' for me.
I just turned 49. Cowboy boots have been my standard footwear since I can remember and jeans are everyday. Occasionally I wear a pair of comfy hi top tennies, for long drives or lots of walking on hard surfaces. Function is favored over form. Now, when it's time to dress Sunday Best, that's different. I have a pair of custom boots, made in 19th century Cavalry style for that. Heavy cowhide, with leather soles, pegged and plated, tbe leather cured wax fleshed. They are riding boots, but they rock Western dress. Especially if I go way old school and blouse my pants into them. They are a high cut upper, over the calf style , patterned after an 1873 Cavalry riding boot.

They work equally well for dress or utility, and draw comments either way. Lol, I like to be ...unique.

I used to wear running shoes with jeans until the last pair of Nikes I had fell apart after three months. I then bought a pair of Rockport casual shoes for the same price and haven't looked back. They are a much higher quality and I can wear the soles off them before I'll ever have a problem with the stitching. And, unlike Nike, Rockport has great customer service and will actually stand behind their products. Nike's customer service is non-existent and their production quality is utterly abysmal. Never again!

Unfortunately, I have also notice Nike's quality going down. Another one is New Balance, with the exception of some high end models the materials and construction have gone downhill.

Depends on where I'm going. Hiking boots or steel toe gripfast boots, generally.

Usually I wear North Face hiking shoes with Jeans. They are perfectly contoured to my feet and are slightly more formal than athletic trainers. They are 100% water proof, but more importantly are exceedingly comfortable for walking.
