Bass Weejuns ( penny loafers )

Actual Gucci loafers .

Vans skateboard shoes ( I'm 47 ) LOL! Used to be in a skateboard team when I was a kid.

Retired running shoes. After about 400 miles of running in them I relegate them to casual wear, then garden duty.

Gross.. Crocs...
They look like the person wearing them is doing so for medical reasons.
But you may as well start wearing socks with them so that people at least mistakenly think you're not serious. I vote knee-high black dress socks! With too-short shorts!!

I'm not a guy, but I love men in boots. If rugged work boots aren't your thing, try dress boots like these.

Late 30s. Love my Redwing Ice Cutters so much I have a black and brown pair. Very versatile. 8 mile walk through town in the rain? No problem, totally waterproof and supportive, and they'll look good doing it without being too dressy or hipsterish. They dress up or down well and will make you about 2" taller. I guess I'm showing my age...I can't stand Nike/Puma/Vans/whatever sneakers. Not into low profile disposable sneakers that feel as if you're walking around barefooted.

Take a while to break in. Modeled after WWII jump boots.

Merrell Moab. Best shoe I've ever worn. Stiff enough for long days of hiking or yard work but comfy enough for every day wear. I'm in my early 30's.

Merrell Moab Hiking Boots
Merrell makes good stuff

I prefer the Mix Master, hits the sweet spot between minimal and enough construction. For jagged rocks, I wouldn't go for them but they're great for soft trails/concrete.

I usually wear a pair of running sneakers (used to be Nike's but they ruined the fit of all their running shoes and I have moved on to Saucony's). I also have a pair of less sneaker-ish Sketchers which can serve me better when wearing Khaki's.

In the winter, I usually wear some sort of hiking boot (Currently Columbia's). They give me the extra traction to not slip and break an arm in snow and ice, and are a bit warmer but not so much so that my feet cook when inside.
