Just get a soap that is made for leather and wash it off. You can try oil too but I worry about it changing the color of the shoe.
You could also just take a hot wet cloth and swipe it, dry it. repeat till its gone. Don't scrub. Don't saturate the stitching or wear until they are fully dry.
Perhaps some kiddo dropped it on the ground....otherwise, I have no idea!

Mikala43, I was actually thinking the exact same thing. Good luck with this greatblueheron, sincerely. If you get a chance to post back please let us know what worked for you and how well the shoes fared (after all you did say they were your favorite leather shoes, and light beige to boot, right?).
Yes, freezing sounds best, I will try first.....I am reluctant to put any other liquid or substance on them..
and yes, they are my favorites!

Watch it doesn't pull the finish off and make nicks. The hot water method is the gentlest. You can use shoe whiteners if the red stained the leather or take it to a leather cleaners.
