A sale this weekend at Joseph A. Bank. But one suit, sports coat or outer coat and get 3 free.
Anyone taken advantage of one of their sales and what is the catch?

Buy one get three free is particularly good. The catch is that they always have a sale. Buy one get one free is full price. Buy one get two free is a normal "sale" price at a store that frequently does sales. The catch is that most people don't need three or four cheap suits. It's really only good for some who is just graduating from college and suddenly finds they can't just wear their one interview suit day in and day out.

If you're a more normal person who just needs to wear a suit on the odd occasion, what the heck you need four for? If you're above entry-level in a suit wearing environment, you already have suits and probably shouldn't be wearing cheap ones anyway. The 60-70% off sales are actually a better deal for most people. On a per suit basis, at 60% of you're paying more than the 66.7% off you'd get at buy one get two free... but do you need three suits? Probably not.

I've never been in one of their stores. I have no idea their prices.
If, for example, suit number one is always on sale for $150.00, then when the buy 1 get 3 free sale comes along, the buy one suddenly becomes $295.00 then it's the same as buy 2 get 2 free. Some of the deals sound too good to be true. I'd rather know what is going on before I enter the store and be quickly approached by a salesman.

Is it a good deal?

JosABank has a deal going on practically every week and is making money, hand over fist, which makes me think it may not be a good deal afterall.

Their suits are really boxy and aren't cut all that well. Quality is poor too.

Of course. They're basically $200 suits, so obviously the quality is poor. They compete with Men's Warehouse or H&M although obviously not the same cut as H&M. Cut is just a matter of preference and body type. For example, as much as I don't like RLBL, it's not like I could even buy one. I'd have to do something stupid like buy 42" pants to even fit my legs in them. I also have no need of all the padding that Polo puts in it suits as I already have broad shoulders. Style-wise I much prefer Canali to anything RL.
