I like the happy designs and colors of Vera Bradley but just cant picture myself wearing it - a little too cutesy for me and the price for a fabric bag feels silly to me.
As for designer handbags I prefer old school Coach back when it was made in the USA - great leather - I also own some more expensive designer bags but in logo free leather - if you have one and see the workmanship you will see why people love them so much. I love great leather. But if a logo bag makes a women feel good - more power to her - its her money.
And anyone over 20 should not have "Juicy" written on their butt - no matter how good your body is - you are too old for it - and I agree VS used to have beautiful underwear but now it is just cheap looking.
Well, neither is the infamous Louis Vuittion logo ones that everyone carries (it's coated canvas) and that costs what close to $1000?
Don't buy anything from their outlet stores. It's noticeably crappier than their regular stuff. Crappy fabric; crappy stitching. But the outlet store seems to be busy every time I go past one.
What I don't get is paying to advertise for free for a company. If I were ever inclined to spend $2000 on a bag, it would be because I personally LOVED the look, the quality was exceptional, the bag was versatile, and classic. The logo-splashed stuff seems, TO ME, to be about status and just status.
Bingo. Maybe a small logo somewhere, but when it's got "C" every which direction, or LV a jillion times, I just don't get it. I find it ugly, pretentious, and can't help thinking "SUCKER" when I see someone carrying them. Sorry, to each his own, but that's what goes through my mind.
I'm with those who can't stand Vera Bradley or Uggs. Also not a fan of the "gladiator" type of shoes/sandals, or the worst fashion trend ever (that just won't go away!!!)----DROOPY DRAWERS!!! I have seen guys wear pants with the waistband literally, completely below their buttocks!! Like, around the top of their thighs.
Saw a Vera Bradley presentation on QVC today. UGH. You should hear how they're praising the bags. You'd think they were talking about a bag by Coach, Chanel, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, Celine or Hermes, or Goyard. Some of the statements just sound silly. And if I hear the phrase "on trend" one. more. time. Vera Bradley -- 'on trend' -- REALLY?!
I need to get a schtick like that -- a quilted bag that will fray, get dirty and look beat up as hell -- for that kind of money?
I am no fan of Vera Bradley bags at any price point, but I will say this about them -- they're durable. My aunt gave me a set of VB bags for my wedding shower years ago. The set has a garment bag, a large weekender tote and a smaller tote. The garment bag doesn't get used because we have better ones that hold more, but those large and small totes are perfect for weekend trips, plane carry-ons, whatever else. The large tote has especially seen a lot of wear and abuse, and four years later, it still looks absolutely brand-new. The straps are secure, the pattern hasn't faded and doesn't look dingy -- it's kind of amazing.
I still wouldn't buy them myself, but I fully intend on using the set gifted to me until they unravel. Which, if I have any indication so far, should be around the time my future grandchildren consider moving to the retirement home.
I'm not really into the Vera Bradley stuff, my mom is though. To me it screams "soccer mom".
I do, however, wear quite a bit of the VS Pink line and I'm 38. I like it because its fun and functional (especially the yoga pants) and fits my lifestyle.
I started this thread years ago, and am bumping this up because I was thinking about this again today. (saw a presentation on a home shopping channel)
Maybe it's the patterns. Because Lord knows the styles of the bags are nothing special.
I got bags that in my opinion look enough like -- or just like VB at AC Moore.
Overnight duffle bag -- 10.00. Now THAT is my price point.
That VB has a niche I'kk say that for it.
