Brrraaahhh! My take on it, if your pits are exposed to the public, it needs to be shaved, men included.
Hairy legs exposed to public, there has to be some shame, come on. My wife will let her legs get hairy, and it wont stop me from desiring her, but there is a limit. Winter time, she could get "sandy cheeks" on me. She would not want to see me all scruffy in the face, and I would feel unkept, so I shave regularly.
And the most intimate of areas, there has to be at least a monthly upkeep, shape up. Wax off is nice, feels clean, great for bikinis, but once a year is enough, not a big fan.Men should give it a trim as well, not bald, but a little off the top.
Bald and bleached all over down there is over kill, but some can appreciate the vanity. Perception and appearance matters. For those areas that are private, no one will know except the SO. But what is shown in public will generate an opinion about you.
My girlfriend is black. She never shaves and I could not tell the difference. Not sure if is is a black thing. I did ask her to stop shaving her pubic area. We do trim it up occasionally though.

Yes, it seems black people hardly have any body hair and IMO they look terrific like that.

Depends. As a straight guy, I like tomboys and a straight tomboy in a guy's t-shirt, cargo shorts, and flip-flops with unshaven legs is still hot, as long as she has long hair.
Although, of course, even tomboys wear dresses/skirts at formal occasions and I would not want to see the same tomboy show up at a formal event in a dress with unshaven legs.
