I honestly don't know. I agree, I think most are posing but there must be some that aren't right? There must be...maybe.

I'm in Boston so I see a lot of hipsters. I dress in a button down, slacks, tie, sometimes a jacket, etc at work so that's what I wear most of the day. I've tried to make small talk with a hipster or two coming home from work but got nothing. They were very quite and awkward. I'm pretty easy going and personable (if I do say so myself!). I think they think that people like me shun them and I guess they were surprised when I didn't give them a dirty look and spit on them.

I'm a cyclist and often pull up to another person on a bike and make small talk at a red light. I tried that with a hispter too - got nothing. It's weird, on the surface they look like they have tons of personality but when you try to engage they cower like kittens. Kind of a sign that they are not sure of themselves I guess.

^^^^ Clean and neat is fine for me.

I don't know if this is metrosexual or not, but I like a man who's polished in appearance. To me, that means no body odor; clean, trimmed nails; healthy, white teeth; neat hair; a close shave, and trimmed facial, nose, and ear hair; clean, pressed clothes; clean shoes. These make a man more attractive, imo.

However, there's polished, and then there's prissy.

Prissy is overly concerned with his looks, beauty treatments and keeping up with fashion--one who gets beauty treatments like eyebrow shaping, body-hair trimming or waxing, facials, polished nails, and excessively into fashion, and such. All those things would be a huge turnoff for me.

Except for the polished nails, and occasionally plucking strays from my eyebrows, I don't do any of those things.

So, if he's more "girly" than me, forget it.

I agree with Sage - I am not very girly, and he can't be more girly. I like a manly man - not smelly or dirty, but not one that is waxing; if there's hair on the chest, leave it! And don't wear colored skinny jeans please. Although it that more hipster? Heck I don't know. Metrosexual doesn't bother me, I don't have an opinion, but it's not the type of man I'd go for romantically.

Check out the King of the Metrosexuals. But first, guess his age.
No googling allowed. (Googling sounds metrosexual, btw.....So DON'T DO IT!)

Close enough, but actually a bit older.
I wouldn't assume he's married. Can't imagine (and don't want to) what he does for sexual kicks.

He's 66, believe it or not. A credit to modern science and plastic surgery.

Trust me, the strangeness came before the plastic surgery.
