I've been reading blogs and articles about paring down one's wardrobe to only what actually gets worn. I've pared down to a reasonable, but not sparse, minimum, and my closet looks and feels the better for it.
Which makes me curious about where I am in the continuum of clothing acquisition...

1. How many dresses do you own? (Please include off-season stuff)
2. How many skirts?
3. How many dressy trousers? (meaning, no jeans, sweatpants, or leggings.)
4. How many shorts?

I don't include tops in this informal poll (sweaters, blouses, shirts, etc,) because we all know we have too much of the stuff.

I'll go first:
1. 8 dresses
2. 8 skirts
3. 1 pair dressy trousers
4. 0 (zero) shorts

1. How many dresses do you own? 40-45
2. How many skirts? 25-30
3. How many dressy trousers? 40-45
4. How many shorts? 10-12

I have so many because I mostly buy well-made, classic styles that don't really go out of style, and I've been the same size all my adult life. There's really no reason to get rid of my older clothes because they look good, fit well, and I have room to store them. I buy new clothes occasionally if there's a color or fabric I like, or if I just want to look fresh for a special occasion.

This list includes clothing for all seasons.

Hey, I'm pro-decluttering, I need no convincing on the issue-
but getting rid of stuff is still a challenge, I admit.

1. How many dresses do you own? (Please include off-season stuff) 1
2. How many skirts? 1 (I basically never wear dresses or skirts)
3. How many dressy trousers? (meaning, no jeans, sweatpants, or leggings.) 3 (incl. 2 prs. corduroys)
4. How many shorts? a dozen (some for indoor/sleep use only, others for wearing out in public)

I don't include tops in this informal poll (sweaters, blouses, shirts, etc,) because we all know we have too much of the stuff.
Appreciated

Wonder how it would go, were you to ask about # of footwear pairs we each have...
