I don't understand it myself and I'm a woman but I have never liked that look and have never worn it myself; personally I think it looks tacky. If it is what you like though it is your choice to wear what you want.

Depends on where you're going. If a "night out" is fairly casual, like bowling, then why not?

It's interesting that people mention that style being "out." I wore tunics and leggings in the early 90s and now it's back. My mom wore the heck out of her wedge shoes in the 70s and early 80s and now that's back too. Might as well wear whatever you want, whenever you want. It's all going to come back anyway.

Interesting question.

I can think of 2 reasons. First, weather. Here it's 9:45 PM and 85 disgusting humid degrees outside. If I were going out tonight, I would either wear a sleeveless shirt, or a camisole, purely to stay cool. Sandals would be essential too. The “overly-casual look” is way more attractive than the “sweat-staind look”. Lol.

Second, I think some guys seem to think it's a “sexy, yet low-maintenance” look. Similar to seeing a pretty girl who also knows a thing or two about cars. Any guys on here have a thought on that hypothesis?

Agree that I think it looks tacky and I'm a guy. Maybe you can pull it over wil a blazer over it, but stand alone I think its unprofessional and trashy. A dated look as well.

Personally, it's not sexy at all to me. But another kind of guy who sports flashy rims or wears tank tops to display his muscular arms might disagree. Different strokes for different folks.
