Khakis and a not-too-brightly-colored polo shirt is usually acceptable for almost everything. Add a blue blazer if you want to be a little more dressy.
Wear nice shoes though, not sneakers, not even expensive sneakers. Nice shoes make every outfit better!
Yes, I'm pretty sure casual means business casual and I consider a polo's and short sleeve button up shirts business casual but I think I might opt for the long sleeves. Many of you suggest wearing a coat, did I mention it's going to be outdoors at 3:30 and probably 95 degrees, I don't think wearing a coat makes sense considering it'll be way too hot.
Seersucker or other summer weight sport coat, then. You think folks in the south never wear coats/suits?
I'm an IT consultant for Dell, and that's what "business casual" means to me in the summer. However, I would wear a jacket to a wedding.
This would be a perfect opportunity for a seersucker suit, a linen button-down and some nice loafers. This isn't rocket science, folks.
Again, it depends on the part of the country you are in. What is considered proper or acceptable in Manhattan is not necessarily the same in Atlanta or Dallas ot Denver or Portland. Or in a small town in South Dakota. Context matters.
If it's an evening wedding, definitely a tie and jacket.
Otherwise, dark pants and a nice crisp long-sleeved shirt.
Personally, my guy would be wearing a tie. I'd never let him go without one...unless it was a beach wedding or something of that nature.
Good advice, a tie is a must. He can remove it later.
