I think they are good for the thigh and butt area, but they seems to make my stomach area more prominent. It is almost like they create a little pooch on my lower stomach that isn't usually there. I occasionally wear them underneath dresses that cling to my hips and thighs.

ok, Where do you buy them? I know there's a web site but are they in a store somewhere I can see them in person?

I like the ones that are like little shorts. During the summer when it was hot and I had to walk 2 miles to work, I'd wear them under my skirts. I have "thunder thighs" so my inner thighs are literally rubbed raw. During most of the year, a little powder does the trick but when it's hot and sticky, forget it!

I suppose it did make me look "sleeker" too, but that wasn't the point for me.

I like feeling smooth and feeling comfortable at the same time. So, I buy a size larger than it says I need...

BTW - Kohls has a couple of brands that are similar in concept to Spanx... I've never tried the "real thing".

sara blakely markets another brand called ASSETS at target. they cost less than spanx, which i never thought of as needing a low-cost alternative, since they're already one of the best bargains in the lingerie/hosiery department. anyone try them? how do they compare to spanx?
