No, I can't do the house dress thing. My grandmother wore them and I see them as strictly an old lady or frumpy mom kinda thing.

My sister does, and she is not "very old". She just finds it comfortable. I personally hate them and would not be caught dead in one.

But I don't consider the "Jams" style to be anything like a "housedress". Two entirely different things, to me.

When my second wife and I got married at the courthouse in 1972, she was wearing a muu muu that my mother had given her. I was wearing overalls. The marriage lasted 27 years. She was 18 years old at the time.

Thumbs up I love house dresses

I have been wearing house dresses since I was about 45. I never dress unless going to work or outside to shop or visit. When at home I wear house dresses. I wore men;s pajama's before that and before that tee shirts and jogging pants or in summertime pretty lounge wear dresses in cotton. My mother was wearing house dresses in her thirties and I saw grandma wearing them when I was young too, but they went out in them in the summer too. Our family is never dressed when at home. I grew up that way. My kids tease me constantly about the house dresses, but they are comfortable. By the way I am 59 and it is 2015.

I am 62 and have been wearing them around the house since my 30's. Can't beat the comfort and easy care.

The only ones who ever see me in them are my dog and cats.......and they don't care!

Hmm..not sure, but from what I've seen those mu-mu's went the way of the do do bird. Except for maybe women over 60 or so.

I think most younger women wear around the house now the same thing they do when they sleep: panties and a tee--no bra.

Or those yoga pants they seem to love so much and a loose comfy cotton top.
