They scream "I'm plump and have pendulous breasts and don't want to wear undergarments."

LOL, now that they've invented Lycra, we don't need the housedress any more, thank goodness. If I didn't have things like yoga pants, I'd be wearing something un confining like a muumuu.

That's funny.

OP, I don't know your age, but I don't necessarily agree with the above poster. My aunt who wears one is of average weight, more so on the thinner size.

She is older, but doesn't sit around in them all day. She still works and is very active, goes to the gym, walks, owns 2 Harleys.

I am pretty sure she wears underwear.

Smart lady.

If the maxi dresses I like (Rachel Pally) weren't so freakin expensive, I'd do the same thing.

I have a couple of long dresses I wear around the house. One was actually intended to be a house dress, the others were not. My husband likes the look of them. I wear shorts and tshirts around the house most of the time though.

If I'm going to be home all day, I usually run around in yoga pants, or leggings and a tunic top. Comfortable, but still decent and presentable in case someone comes to the door, and presentable enough to run out and do a quick errand.
This is my "homebody style" as well - unless I'm working in the yard, in which case, I am not fit for human interaction!!!

No. But I think that today's version is "sweats" or yoga pants.

I don't wear house dresses, but OLD, long dresses around the house because they're too tacky to wear anyplace else. (Maybe house dresses ARE "OLD, long dresses ). They're comfortable. Maybe the thrift shop has some old ones that are wearable in the house. Hmmm ...

I'd LOVE to wear "mumus" in the house. They're comfortable, too - and breezy in the summer.

Pants are getting on my nerves now. I don't know why. Maybe because movement in them isn't as free as a (long) dress.

Absolutely! I have one of my Mother's favorites. She is deceased but I have very fond memories of her wearing it and always feel that she is a little closer when I wear that blue cotton airy dress.

I will wear dresses around the house when temperatures get above 75 degrees in the summer.
