For knocking around the house, I wear whatever is temperature appropriate. I will start wearing stuff like transitional/fall Sunday clothes over in late September or October when it starts getting cool. I keep a couple pair of knee pants & capris available all year. Put the shorts away in September. It has to be really cold for me to put on full blown heavy winter clothes like sweat pants, long sleeve sweatshirts, coats, etc. Keep jeans, t-shirts & pull overs in closet all the time.

Weather. I am outside most of the day.

There is a time each fall and spring when I may be wearing long underwear one day, shorts the next, and back again .

What else would determine that? I'm not going to wear shorts in September if it is cold, but I'm not going to break out the snow boots if it is still 80, either. Around here the weather can change dramatically very quickly. It could literally be shorts one day and snow boots the next. That usually happens in October.

Our winters can be quite cold here in Kentucky and during those times the heavier coats and sweaters, boots, gloves and scarves come out.....but layering is the way to go.....jeans, cords, turtlenecks and lightweight down vests are fine most of the time.....some time in mid to late November the winter jackets, heavier sweaters and vests make their way from the basement cedar closet to my bedroom closet.

Summer clothes= T shirts or short sleeved button up shirts with shorts and flip flops. I usually wear that after work or on weekends. In the evening I will add a long sleeve pull over with a hoodie

Yet another wannabe fashion expert who has read too many magazines and things that on a certain date, a person is not suppose to wear a certain color or style.

Welcome to real life, where the weather dictates what a person should wear.

If October is cold we switch to fall clothes. If it's warm we just switch to more fall colors. Then gradually bring out fall/winter clothes. And gradually put away summer/spring clothes.

I take it day by day, we can get some coolish days in September but then like last year hit the 70s again in October. I rarely wear summer weight pants/capris after Labor Day so they are always the first to go, usually by late October I've completed the changeover to my winter wardrobe.
